Robert C. Lawless is from a family of lawyers. His father was a Wall Street lawyer, judge and dean of a prestigious law school. He has nine family members who are lawyers. Bob graduated from High School on Cape Cod and later received his B.A. from Boston College in 1979 and his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1982.
Bob was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1982 and the New York bar immediately thereafter. Bob served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City from 1982 until 1985. While an Assistant District Attorney, he investigated and prosecuted many misdemeanor and felony criminal prosecutions. This included the trial to verdict of many jury trials.
Bob joined a law firm in Falmouth, Massachusetts in 1985, which became Farrell, Duffy & Lawless.
Bob created Lawless and Lawless, P.C., in 1991 and thereafter its offices have been located in Barnstable in close proximity to the courthouse.
Bob was elected to the Massachusetts Legislature as a State Representative from 1991 through 1995. He served on the Judiciary Committee and was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Committee for Criminal Justice in his freshman term. As a Legislator, he was involved in crafting and amending many of the same laws that currently impact you and your case.
